To thwart mud, water, and contaminants as you power through rough trails, Boost Centerlock hubs have heavy-duty bearing seals and snaprings, that provide superior protection with ultra low drag.
Our bearings have heat-treated, surgical grade steel races that are machined simultaneously to ensure perfectly matched inner and outer races. The quality and speed of our bearings is what sets us apart from the competition and they are what you will feel and notice on every single ride. The GRD23 is not like other wheels in many respects. It’s an all-road wheel that offers you a bit more compliance than other carbon all-road wheels. Having said that, it’s not soft. It’s not noodly. It’s just a bit friendlier to your bones when you ride it on all the stuff you ride.
The GRD23 rim is made of FusionFiberTM, a cutting edge thermoplastic that incorporates long-chain polymers. Without diving into the science, FusionFiberTM has a wider range of compliance profiles, and that means we could tune this wheel to hit a sweet spot in road feel that we didn’t see being served by more performance-oriented carbon wheelsets that focus on using resin to create unforgiving stiffness.
Unlike other carbon rims, the GRD23 rim is recyclable. If you manage to break it somehow, we’ll take it back and make it into something new.
Another reason you want this wheelset is that it’s built around our R45D Centerlock hubs, the culmination of over 45 years of bearing experience and more than 20 years of hub building experience. It features a redesigned RingDrive™ system with 45 teeth for lower drag and near instant simultaneous engagement, a lightweight hub body, and our legendary made-in-house bearings.
Those bearings, both steel and ceramic, have heat-treated, surgical grade steel races machined in tandem to ensure perfect matching. The quality and speed of our bearings is what you feel (and hear) on every ride. As the tracks on Chris King bearing break in and burnish they actually get faster. A little bit of regular love (i.e. service) will keep this hub rolling for years upon years of demanding use.
This wheelset comes with the legendary angry-bee sound and you can choose from a bunch of sharp hub colors, including basic black.

Combining internal structural support and PU Foam for shockproof construction, the Expedition E-Bike Charger Pack (1.6L) is a versatile solution for carrying an E-bike charger safely and securely on the downtube of an E-bike. Waterproof materials, welded construction and a roll-top design create a versatile and compressible storage for E-bikepacking or E-touring, removing the need to carry a heavy spare battery.
The Expedition E-Bike Charger Pack (1.6L) securely fastens to the downtube with a customizable velcro attachment compatible with even the largest of E-bike tube diameters, with anti-slip strips helping to avoid unwanted movement on rough terrain.
Compatible with compact E-bike chargers from major brands like Bosch, Shimano, SRAM and Specialized, the Expedition E-Bike Charger Pack (1.6L) is designed to work without mounts or a cage. That's 17 mm from dropout to dropout resisting deflection during cornering or when the power is full on. We designed a driveshell with a twin bearing design that responsibly removed as much weight as we could from the inner components. Even our patented RingDrive engagement system was redeveloped resulting in a quiet, fast-engaging 45-tooth stainless steel system unique to the R45 rear hub.

King designed and built a bearing specifically for the R45 hubset. These stainless steel sealed bearings are made in-house in Portland, Oregon. Our proprietary bearing design allows us to place more rolling elements per bearing meaning greater durability and precision.
