This new addition to the Crombie family is specifically built to work with the new external splined lockrings found on the new Shimano mountain bike drivetrains featuring a 9 tooth final cog.

This new Crombie tool features one side for the new nine tooth lockring while keeping the traditional "S Group" Thru Axle tool on the opposite side. This makes it an ideal choice for the modern mountain and gravel minded shop or garage.

We've wanted to do a spoke wrench for a long time. The boss man was a bit of a wheel guy when he still worked in shops, don't ask us why it took so long.

Spoke wrenches are a highly personal tools. Most people learn to true and build wheels with the same old tool and some stay with it for life, while others realize there's improvements that make their fingers happier at the end of a day of twisting nipples.

We chose to make our wrench about as big as you can while still fitting in between high spoke count wheels. We also put a rib around the ears to help give your fingers a place to rest and cut down on need to squeeze in addition to twisting. While the pretty bit is machined from a solid block of aluminum we weren't quite happy with the durability of that for the tool interface, so we added a hardened steel insert to handle the real work. These bits will be replaceable if need be, though you don't want to swap them around in between jobs.

The Spoke wrench also nests perfectly with a DT style bladed spoke holder for use with aero spokes.

You might be wondering what the SD stands for, well we kind of feel the shape of the new spoke wrench kind of looks like the ears of our beloved Shop Dog, Remi. So the old bird dog gets to add to his legacy and live on forever in the Abbey catalog.

There are truing stands and then there is The Truing Stand. What's long been a bike shop staple isn't always the most glamorous tool in the shop, in fact it's usually a pretty basic device. But the work that comes off the truing stand is often the thing bike shop hero's are made from, the legendary perfectly built wheel. So what if we revisit the lowly truing stand, approach it like a piece of metrology equipment instead of something that does little more than hold a wheel? There's so many ways to 'hack' a truing stand, if you're going to make a proper tool why not go all out?

We set out to make a truing stand like no other, something that had a stable base as a foundation for precision and repeatability. We wanted the stand to reliably mirror on a centerline so it would always be in dish regardless of hub or rim width. We needed a good thru axle solution that didn't require adapters. In the disc brake era we wanted to be able to straighten rotors while the wheel was in the stand. We wanted a stand that was equally at home truing wheels for a general tune up as it was building wheels worthy of elite competition. We added the ability to run dial indicators for radial and lateral deviation and you can run one for the rotor if you'd like. Design is all about compromise and we spent nearly 6 years thinking and tinkering this one, the results do not disappoint.

Custom wheels may be falling out of favor with mainstream cycling but that doesn't mean there's not people out there who still love to build them. While there is a lot of science that goes into making hubs, spokes and rims. There's a healthy does of art that goes into turning that pile of parts into a wheel that can see thousands of miles of use. Some parts of this process are straight forward and others require more experience.

The Wheel Lacing Stand is another item from the Noble Catalog, a small tool maker from London who started as a wheel building specialist. This tool is pretty basic in purpose, it supports the hub and rim of a wheel independently while you are putting the spokes into it. This adds a good amount of speed to the start of the wheel building process with a 20% time savings! Perhaps the biggest benefit of the lacing stand is the ergonomic benefit. With the parts supported in the stand you no longer have to crouch over the rim on your lap. This is a big joy to the backs of wheel builders everywhere!
