Integrated headsets pose a unique challenge in that the bearings are not pressed into a cup and sit loosely in the frame. When bearings are not pressed securely into a cup they shift and move, rapidly losing preload. As preload drops, the bearings are more susceptible to creaking, damage, and failure.
Enter the patented GripLock bearing cap. The GripLock preloads the headset independently of clamping onto the steerer, so it retains preload far better than the competition and is impervious to the ill effects of load spikes from large hits and heavy braking. This means smoother steering, no more creaking, and a longer lasting headset.
GripLock design also takes the guesswork out of preloading a headset, because the bearing preload force is independent of the clamping force. Chris King headsets can be preloaded to a torque spec.

The GRD23 is not like other wheels in many respects. It’s an all-road wheel that offers you a bit more compliance than other carbon all-road wheels. Having said that, it’s not soft. It’s not noodly. It’s just a bit friendlier to your bones when you ride it on all the stuff you ride.
The GRD23 rim is made of FusionFiberTM, a cutting edge thermoplastic that incorporates long-chain polymers. Without diving into the science, FusionFiberTM has a wider range of compliance profiles, and that means we could tune this wheel to hit a sweet spot in road feel that we didn’t see being served by more performance-oriented carbon wheelsets that focus on using resin to create unforgiving stiffness.
Unlike other carbon rims, the GRD23 rim is recyclable. If you manage to break it somehow, we’ll take it back and make it into something new.
Another reason you want this wheelset is that it’s built around our R45D Centerlock hubs, the culmination of over 45 years of bearing experience and more than 20 years of hub building experience. It features a redesigned RingDrive™ system with 45 teeth for lower drag and near instant simultaneous engagement, a lightweight hub body, and our legendary made-in-house bearings.
Those bearings, both steel and ceramic, have heat-treated, surgical grade steel races machined in tandem to ensure perfect matching. The quality and speed of our bearings is what you feel (and hear) on every ride. As the tracks on Chris King bearing break in and burnish they actually get faster. A little bit of regular love (i.e. service) will keep this hub rolling for years upon years of demanding use.
This wheelset comes with the legendary angry-bee sound and you can choose from a bunch of sharp hub colors, including basic black.

This Chris King® threadless headset features a bearing cap design called GripLock™. GripLock™ is a multi-piece bearing cap that utilizes a split ring that improves steerer tube interface.
InSet™ Model 4 with GripLock™ bearing cap is intended for 1 1-8” steerer dual crown forks, fits bikes from a number of manufacturers and is for long travel applications. As long as your bike doesn’t require an integrated headset this Inset™ headset will perform beautifully on your bike.
This Chris King® Inset™ headset is a low-stack threadless headset. Like other Chris King® headsets, it features user-serviceable stainless steel bearings. Chris King’s bearings are legendary because their design gives you years of trouble free performance with only routine maintenance.
It is absolutely essential that proper reaming and facing of your bike’s head tube be performed by a qualified mechanic during installation of this Inset™ headset. Also, please be aware that modifying a frame to make the Inset™ fit is not a proper method of installation. The proper installation of this headset is so important that you are encouraged to choose another headset if you are not able to have this Inset™ headset properly installed. We highly recommend that you carefully check your bike's specifications before ordering this headset and contact your bike manufacturer if necessary. Chris King CERAMIC Road Bottom Bracket Shim/Xtype/FSA (use mtb BB for FSA road Lite cranks ) 24mm spindle
The construction and compatibility of this Chris King® Ceramic Bearing Bottom Bracket are identical to the Chris King® stainless steel bearing bottom bracket. However, this bottom bracket uses ceramic balls, which are lighter, harder and have greater roundness than stainless steel balls, resulting in a bearing with less friction and exceptional speed and strength.
These factors along with Chris King's sealing system mean you need only use a very small amount of low-viscosity lube in the bearing. This means less drag in the bearing, allowing you to pedal with greater efficiency.
