Description

Wheels Manufacturing very own double-ended bottom bracket wrench designed to fit 16-notch bearing cups with an outside diameter of 44mm as well as 16-notch bearing cups with an outside diameter of 48.5mm. Machined aluminum, anodized red.

Compatible with all current Wheels Mfg bottom brackets with notched cups.

    Compatible with all Wheels Manufacturing (SRAM T47) bottom brackets that have the following spline patterns: 52mm, 16-notch 1/2 UNC threaded Press Rod.

    SRAM Thin Flange T47 Bottom Bracket Socket Designed to create a tight grip on thin flange bottom bracket to avoid slipping while torquing cups into bike frames. This single-sided socket is used for installing and removing 52mm, 16-notch bottom bracket cups. The socket has a machined 3/8" drive, which can be used to allow 3/8" drive torque wrenches to be attached and locks onto 1/2 inch UNC press rod for secure and easy installation of thin flanged bottom brackets. Machined 6061 Aluminum Anodized Red.

    While most other manufactures cast or forge their bottom bracket tools we machine ours. Forging is indeed stronger but it lacks the precision that machining gives you. Whenever you're dealing with anodized surfaces great care needs to be taken to keep those surfaces from getting marred, gouged and striped out. That can be nearly impossible with some spanner style tools and difficult with other loose fitting sockets.

    The most unique feature about this tool is the inner nub, that nub in the center of the tool is the same size as the crank spindle. What this does is give you a second point of contact that keeps the tool from camming off of the part. when trying to remove stubborn cups.

    This dual sided socket is designed to work with the new Shimano DA-9000/XTR-BB93 bottom bracket as well 6800 Ultegra and 5800 105 11spd groups (BBR-60).

    Just when we thought we were done making bottom bracket sockets we get enough requests to add a fitment for Shimano STEPS drive units. This tool is used to remove the chainring spider from the drive unit. It's low profile clears chainring mount and it's relived internally to make room for the bottom bracket axle and the integrated washer that is found on some spindles. Other than that, it's a really nice 3/8" square drive socket just like the rest of our socket range.
