Abbey Suspension Top Cap Socket 26mm
Description
Suspension service is a specialty within bicycle repair and it takes specialized tools to perform this work. One of the things that any factory tech will tell you is nice to have are sockets specifically made or altered for the low profile hex on the top of each fork leg. The lead in or chamfer on a standard socket will greatly decrease the contact between tool and part and can easily scratch or deform those nuts. For years shops have been grinding down their sockets to remove the chamfer. Problem is you're still often left with a loose fitting socket that is still prone to chewing up those delicate parts. That's why we started from scratch.
We made our sockets from billet aluminum to exacting tolerances to keep these parts in good shape. fully CNC'd machined with zero lead in, they make the specialty that is suspension service a little bit easier. They feature a 3/8" square drive for use with your favorite torque wrench as well as finger splines to help run the top caps into the fork legs with those oil soaked hands. We also kept them short (1" or 25mm for all sizes) to reduce the chance of them caming off of the top cap under torque.
Offered in a 7 individual sizes and a 6 socket set for most modern suspension forks on the market.

Open Bore adapters, also known as drifts, are used to press cartridge bearings in to bottom bracket cups, hub shells, freehub bodies and suspension frame pivots. Each adapter has a smaller diameter that inserts in to the center of a bearing, and a larger diameter section that matches the outside diameter of the bearing. When used with a bearing press, the adapter presses against the races of the bearing, properly aligns the bearing and prevents damage as the bearing is pressed in.
Our 1526 open bore adapter is used to press 26x15 sealed bearings. The adapter is machined with one step at 15mm OD, which fits in to the center of the sealed bearing.

We made these monster chain whips at the request of some of our long time customers who were working the world cup track circuit. When a world class sprinter stands on the pedals of their track bike it taxes everything between the sole of their shoe and the tire. This means that tiny little track cog is threaded onto the hub as if He-Man put it on. We've lengthened these track whips out to a massive 17"/432mm, made a reinforced tang specifically for the 1/8" chain and put them together with stainless aircraft rivets. It adds up to a bomber whip worthy of the fastest men and women in the world.

At first glance the tool looks like it might be cumbersome but once you get it in your hand you realize how simple and effective the ergonomics of the tool are. Offering good leverage for all of the small fasteners on your bike, be it the precision adjustment of limit screws or adjusting the handle bars because you had one beer too many when you bolted them down late last night.
