Description
Designed to press in all current Wheels Mfg bottom brackets! Our do-it-all Essential Bottom Bracket Press. Economical and easy to use, this tool is made up of two machined aluminum handles, 1/2" threaded rod and one machined aluminum frame drift.
Each drift is machined with multiple steps to fit common bottom bracket shell and bearing diameters listed in the Compatibility tab below. No more searching for the correct size drifts and parts. Just match up the drift to your frame's BB shell size and your bottom bracket's bearing size and press.
1/2" diameter threaded rod resists bending, allowing for the cups to align and press in straight. Drifts can also can be used as a frame bottom bracket shell sizing guide! Open Bore adapters, also known as drifts, are used to press cartridge bearings in to bottom bracket cups, hub shells, freehub bodies and suspension frame pivots. Each adapter has a smaller diameter that inserts in to the center of a bearing, and a larger diameter section that matches the outside diameter of the bearing. When used with a bearing press, the adapter presses against the races of the bearing, properly aligns the bearing and prevents damage as the bearing is pressed in.
Our 1526 open bore adapter is used to press 26x15 sealed bearings. The adapter is machined with one step at 15mm OD, which fits in to the center of the sealed bearing.

Insert the extractor into the bearing, tighten one side with an Allen key, and the collet expands to grip the inside of the bearing

While most other manufactures cast or forge their bottom bracket tools we machine ours. Forging is indeed stronger but it lacks the precision that machining gives you. Whenever you're dealing with anodized surfaces great care needs to be taken to keep those surfaces from getting marred, gouged and striped out. That can be nearly impossible with some spanner style tools and difficult with other loose fitting sockets.
The most unique feature about this tool is the inner nub, that nub in the center of the tool is the same size as the crank spindle. What this does is give you a second point of contact that keeps the tool from camming off of the part. when trying to remove stubborn cups.
This dual sided socket is designed to work with the new Shimano DA-9000/XTR-BB93 bottom bracket as well 6800 Ultegra and 5800 105 11spd groups (BBR-60).
