FOX FLOAT X (2022+) Full DIY Rebuild Toolkit
Complete home rebuild toolkit for the FOX FLOAT X and Bomber Air shocks (2022+). Covers everything needed for a proper 50h service up to a full 200h damper rebuild.
The two main dynamic O-rings (damper shaft + IFP) are included in this kit.
FOX specifies several chamferless sockets for this shock, but in practice the rebuild can be done safely with standard tools, as long as torque is controlled properly using the luggage scale method.
What’s Included in the Kit
- 1/2" Shaft Clamp — fits the FLOAT X / Bomber Air main shaft
- Graduated IFP Depth Tool — required for accurate IFP depth setting
- FLOAT X Pin Socket — required for 47.5–75 mm travel shocks
- 2× Main Dynamic O-rings (included) — damper shaft seal O-ring and IFP seal O-ring
Tools NOT Included (You Still Need These)
This kit does not include common shop consumables and small tools required to complete the rebuild:
- Valve core remover
- Shock pump
- RockShox air fill adapter (FOX uses the same thread)
- Syringe for oil transfer / bleed cleanup
- Damper oil (4 wt)
- Basic hand tools (Allen keys, open-end wrenches)
If you’ve serviced shocks before, you probably already own all of these.

Our 6000 over axle adapter is used to press 6000 sealed bearings into hub shells or suspension components. An over axle adapter is necessary when the bearing slides over the axle before it is pressed into the hub shell or suspension component. In addition to the adapter, you often need spacers to clear the end of the axle and allow enough clearance for the press to fully push in the bearing.

Everybody makes a multi-tool and there's a little bit of everything on the market, so what's different about ours? All of the little things that add up to one nice little tool. If you're familiar with other Abbey tools you've no doubt noticed that they fit tighter than anything else out there and this one is no different. We use precision stainless steel bits that fit like a glove into the bolts on your modern bike. They wont strip out fasteners like the cheap offshore made tools that are so common in the bike world. The next part of the multi-tool is the chassis, for this we used our favorite US drawn aluminum alloy and built a 4 position frame to hold the bits. At first glance the tool looks like it might be cumbersome but once you get it in your hand you realize how simple and effective the ergonomics of the tool are. Offering good leverage for all of the small fasteners on your bike, be it the precision adjustment of limit screws or adjusting the handle bars because you had one beer too many when you bolted them down late last night.
