A cable/hydraulic hybrid disc brake system offers power and modulation of fully hydraulic brakes without the complexity and hassles that sometimes accompanies those systems.
The Ultimo’s main difference from the Motoko is that the Ultimo has four pistons (vs. 2) and larger pads. The rotor is also equipped with removable aluminum heat sinks.

Three years of development and we think Paul nailed it, this is arguably the best mechanical caliper ever made for a bicycle. It’s available in Long Pull, Short Pull, and Campagnolo pull.
- Tried and true ball bearing in a ramp system.
- Bigger balls for smoothness and increased pad travel.
- Hardened the steel where the balls contact the ramps.
- Three hardened steel pins to locate the pad actuator.
- Added “fangs” to the inner backing plate for stiffness and beefed up outer caliper body.
As always, allow a couple short rides to bed in the pads. The award-winning MiniMoto is our short-pull mini-v-brake for use with most short pull road or cantilever brake levers.
We absolutely love it, as does anyone who’s ever ridden one. Maximum tyre clearance is around 44-45ish without fenders.
Like the Motolite brake, the MiniMoto is a direct pull cantilever brake, but short-pull. This design is simpler to install than a traditional cantilever brake, requires no cable hangers, and gives the MiniMoto a narrow profile. This design is also extremely powerful!
The arms of the MiniMoto have been shortened to match the leverage of standard Shimano and SRAM road brake levers, making the MiniMoto compatible with drop bar brake levers and with most integrated shifters.
