Our Arise Geared uses the sturdy and durable Microshift Advent 9-speed drivetrain to simplify gear selection and servicing. Yet with a huge 11 - 42 T cassette, it rivals the range offered by more complicated set-ups. Made to cruise, its flat handlebar puts you in a comfortable position, while Shimano hydraulic disc brakes provide all-weather security. Based around an adaptable steel frame, sensible fitting standards mean the Arise Geared should keep rolling through the decades. With mounts for panniers and mudguards, it arrives pre-fitted with our deck-style front rack for easy portaging.

If you want reliable 1x shifting that rivals more expensive configurations, the Arise Geared is the bike for you. Fitted with a Microshift Advent 9-speed drivetrain and generous 11 - 42T cassette on a sturdy steel frame, you have a ride for life. Shimano hydraulic disc brakes provide reliable stopping power in the wet, while flat bars keep you comfortable and secure. A deck-style front rack, pannier and mudguard mounts give you plenty of options for trips further afield.

The Beyond mentality taken to the extreme. Huge 2.8-inch wide tubeless tyres and 27.5-inch diameter wheels help the Beyond+ navigate roads and tracks that are barely there. With mountain bike-style manners, it’s a blast to ride unloaded, yet stable when laden with bikepacking bags or racks. Backed by Sram’s top-flight 12-speed SX Eagle groupset, this provides an enormous 11 - 50 T cassette, while twin-piston Level hydraulic brakes are capable of stopping the bike in an instant. The perfect escape vehicle. If it’s marked on the map, the Beyond can probably follow it. Our most affordable adventure-touring bike, it provides mountain bike-width tyres, a readily spinnable 40 / 28 T chainset, and mechanical disc brakes. A modern steel hardtail. Long, with a stable wheelbase, the Cale’s tight back end allows it to flick through the rough stuff while remaining efficient on long-haul stretches. Building on the success of the Beyond+ models, it’s a bike made for exploring the most technical routes. Backed by a RockShox Pike fork, a wide bar and short stem let you plot a steady course through any terrain. Drop the saddle and smash downhill thanks to a KS E30i dropper seatpost, climb back up using the huge 10 – 52 T gear range provided by the new Sram GX Eagle 2.0 12-speed groupset. Either way, it promises fun when pointed in any direction.

The Hook’s hoodlum tendencies given free rein. Using a Columbus steel frame, dedicated carbon fork, and lively 27.5-inch wheels, the EXT can batter through territory out-of-bounds to other drop handlebar bikes. Backed by Sram’s 1 x 11 Rival groupset, this provides both the gearing range and braking power needed for extreme riding. Adding more build options, this year sees the addition of an integrated rear light mount. As capable on backcountry campouts as it is on post-work blasts, the Hook EXT remains the choice when you’re unsure of the terrain, but know you want to have fun riding it.

Are you heading down the path least travelled? For a drop handlebar bike, the Hook EXT seldom faces terrain it cannot handle. A Columbus steel frame, a dedicated carbon fork and a sturdy 27.5’’ wheelset equip the EXT with an armoury to ride where other bikes would surely suffer. A Sram 1x11 Rival groupset suitably gives this machine the gears and brakes to match.

Our carbon fibre Hook EXT C gets a new frame and fork. Along with tweaks to the geometry, we’ve added our full-carbon EXT V2 fork with triple cage mounts. Also coming with an updated build-kit, Sram now provides the bike’s XD cassette to impart a huge 10 - 42 T gear range. Taking care of the hoops, our friends at Hunt send over the tubeless-ready Adventure Sport 27.5-inch wheelset. Finished with great-looking tan-wall WTB Venture tyres, this agile adventure bike is the perfect companion for technical backcountry raids.

Our friends at Hunt handle the hoops, providing the bike with a tubeless-ready Adventure Sport 27.5’’ wheelset. Finished with head-turning tan-wall WTB Venture tyres, onlookers will have to be quick if they want to catch a glimpse as you fly through the undergrowth.

We built our affordable Munroe AL based on a light, responsive aluminium frame, with a simple single-chainring drivetrain and competent 650B tyres. Its simplicity keeps maintenance to a minimum, while flat bars ensure comfort in all conditions. Reliable disc brakes respond well even in the rain. With Bombtrack’s signature range of multiple luggage configurations, the constant stop-start of riding through the city has never been this fun.
